I'm going to Romania!

I fell off the blogging bandwagon soon after I settled into my nest here in the Pacific Northwest. Spring is here, and it's time for this little bird to shake the dust off my creative wings.

I've been inspired by the wonderful blogging of my friend Patrick, who has lived abroad as a teacher for the past few years - Musings on Life is well worth following! And much credit is due to my all-time favorite traveling companion and soul mate of a best friend, Colleen, who last October "Shanghai'ed" herself with a one-way ticket and no plan. You can read all about it (and drool over the food she's been eating) at Colleen Gets Lost.

The early Romanian flight pioneer Traian Vuia.
So, here I am - starting afresh! Nothing like a forthcoming trip to Romania to kick off a new chapter - of blogging, and of life in general.

So here's the scoop. For the most part, life in the Pacific Northwest has been good to this mountain girl. I have a roof over my head that some folks describe as "a whole lot like Judy Branch, except it's in the city." Somehow I've managed to land a steady job doing work I passionately believe in. My co-workers are people I love and admire. My life is filled with music, great friends and unbelievably amazing landscapes. And Bella - the best dog on the planet - is by my side nearly every second of my life. I live modestly, but my life is so rich in all the ways that count.

My new camera!
Today, I ordered myself a new camera to take on my trip. This is a big move for me, because for a really big part of my life, photography was my primary muse. I never quite made the shift over into the digital land - beyond a tiny point & shoot camera. After thinking long and hard and reading a lot of reviews, I decided on the camera that will hopefully launch me into a new love affair with photography. The Pentax Q. My plan is to get the special adapter that will allow me to use all my K-mount lenses. Stay tuned here to see how it goes. I am so ready to fall in love with a camera again...
